Airtel Hello tunes- Made Simpler here

Ok, guys and gals. This one is for those of you who wanted to set some cool music as your “Ring Back Tone” or “Caller Tune” as we in India know it. Actually an interesting thing happened today. I had setup (finally!) a caller tune on my Mobily number here in Saudi Arabia with a cool new song from the Shahrukh Khan  , Om Shanti Om.

Anyway, after I set it today, my fiancée called me and found out that I had set a caller tune (for her sake of course!) and then she decided to set up one on her own mobile number (from Airtel) and then called the Hello Tunes number that the Customer Care exec. gave to her.

She managed to go all the way up to the song that she wanted and then when the IVR asked her to enter the number to which she wants to setup the tune exclusively for, she entered my number and then was prompted to enter it again… and again… and again… So she finally hung up and lost a lot of money and also couldn’t really setup that service!

So when I spoke to her earlier in the evening today, she told me what really happened and I was (laughing at how she was duped, as I had been about two years back, by the same company!) really consoling her at what happened and told her that if she only had waited till the evening (and had spoken to me about the same) she would have avoided wasting money.

My advice to all you people who want to setup caller tunes with their respective operators (all of them are the same at duping you of your hard earned money unless you are from a mafia group or a politician!), DO NOT call their IVRS numbers to setup your caller tune (really hazardous!). Almost all of them bill you at a 600% premium of Rs. 6 (or 7 or 8) per minute. The IVRS is designed in such a way that you would be spending about 2-3 minutes just listening to the sweet little voice (of some bitch talking as if she’s really satisfied good!) which explains you that this is the caller tunes and that you would be setting it up for everybody (Hell! I know that. Don’t we all ? What’s the need of it anyway?). After that you select from various categories and if you are lucky enough, you will reach the song you need (and in the process spend about 50-60 or even more rupees).

The best way to avoid all these things is to use the SMS service to activate and setup the song you need on your number either for all or just for that special someone. These companies don’t tend to advertise much on this service since it would eat through their profits (believe me, they earn a lot on what these morons call the Value Added Services (VAS) ).

You almost always have a code for the song that you want as your hello tune. Get that code. Nowadays, you can note it down while you watch that song on your Favourite music channel  or on the FM radio channel that you tune in to, at night.

Activate your tune:

“Search made simpler”
Just SMS name of the SONG/ALBUM/MOVIE that you are looking for to 543215 (Toll Free) & choose your desired song as your Hello Tunes.

“Charges”

“How to download your HelloTune with the song code?”
