Superstar Amitabh Bachchan has landed up in a new controversy as he has been accused of violating an agreement to build a girls’ college in Barabanki, UP. The college was announced by the superstar in January, 2008 and he had said it would be named after his daughter-in-law, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

The film Paa, in which  Amitabh plays a patient of a rare disorder called progeria is not an educational movie, but in fact an “emotional story about a father and son”, says director R Balki.

While promoting the film along with its stars Abhishek Bachchan and Vidya Balan at an Andheri cinema hall, Balki said: “This is a family drama where incidentally Amitabh Bachchan, who is suffering from progeria, plays the role of Abhishek’s son. This movie is not about educating people on progeria.”

“It is an emotional story about a father and son.”

Progeria is an extremely rare condition of early ageing. Those born with progeria typically live about 13 years, although many have been known to live into their late teens and early twenties.

Asked about the film Abhishek — Amitabh’s son in real life — joked: “Amitabh was a very troublesome child all through the film.”

Ranbir Beats SRK

Ranbir kapoor may be a new kid on the block when compared to veterans like Aamir, Shah Rukh and Sanjay Dutt but the young Kapoor has beaten all of them when it come to public relation.

The Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani is on top and Shah Rukh at the bottom according to the latest result of a celebrity survey which reveals that Ranbir has pipped SRK to the post in terms of PR strategy and popularity.

While Ranbir has got the most number of votes, which is 39 out of 40, Shah Rukh, the ultimate marketing man, has managed a paltry 4 out of 40. But then again, this has been the year where he hasn’t had much to market!

The question is will he reclaim the spot next year because it’s for the first time that Shah Rukh’s PR skills have ever been called into question, release or no release. But SRK has the power of reclaiming it as his most awaited My Name is Khan is set to release.

But you can’t write him off just yet, because the same person who put Ranbir on top of the game will probably make sure the Badshah gets his game back- since they do share a publicist!

But it’s not just Ranbir who’s left Shah Rukh in PR nowhere land, arch-rivals Aamir Khan and Salman Khan have also featured higher on the list and paunch or no paunch Sanjay Dutt has no need to feel blue coming in a close second to Ranbir.

Looks like SRK needs to start flashing those dimples and making comments on the number game once again after all it would be a shame if he were beaten at his own game!

Sachin Misses 17,000 by 7 Runs. He was given wrong LBW out of Hauritz ball. The ball was missing leg stump but was given wrongly out by Aamer sahiba. He was on 40 Runs. He was playing superbly. India needs 251 Runs to win match and lead series 3-1. India will then be no. 1 in ODI cicket.

The shooting began on the outskirts of Kochi two days ago after a delay as both Aishwarya and husband Abhishek Bachchan were occupied due to the illness of their respective fathers.

However, both will now be shooting for the film non-stop for a month. This will be their third film with ace director Mani Ratnam. Abhishek has earlier worked with him in ‘Yuva’ and ‘Guru’.

Both films brought Abhishek, who was struggling for box office success then, critical acclaim as an actor. Aishwarya, on the other hand, debuted in his Tamil film ‘Iruvar’ more than a decade ago. Her last film with Mani was ‘Guru’.

Professionally the year has been a good one for the dove-eyed former Miss World as her films ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ and ‘Sarkar Raj’ were well appreciated and did satisfactory business.

She has been busy participating in the ‘Unforgettable Tour” and completing the first outdoor schedule of her second Tamil film opposite Superstar Rajnikanth in Peru.
